MIG:    Good afternoon Jazio, welcome to Music in Ghana.
Jazio:  Thank You.

MIG:   Where do you come from?
Jazio:  Accra, Ghana but now reside in Minnesota

MIG:   Who are your parents?
Jazio:  Emmanuel and Alice Brako, Winona State University professors

MIG:    Can you tell us about your educational background?
Jazio:  Winona State University & Currently in Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis, MN

MIG:   Where did you grow up ?
Jazio:  Tuskegee, Alabama. Life was a bit difficult because we came from Ghana to America for my father to pursue his Ph.D We moved to the midwest (minnesota) when I was 14 and it was a huge culture shock because there were'nt many blacks there. I ended up hanging out with black folks moving from the ghetto's of Chicago to this area and had long life of facing trouble and the law. Eventually, I turned my life around and use music to relieve myself of stresses and to engage in enjoyment.

MIG:   How many siblings do you have?
Jazio: I got three. (2)brothers (1)sister

MIG:   Do you have any relative(s) who are into music?
Jazio:  Yes - An uncle. He plays blues

MIG:   How did u get into music?
Jazio:  It just happened. I loved it from day one. I was always recording myself singing on my uncles cassette recorder. I was doing it as early as 5yrs.

MIG:   what kind of music do you do?
Jazio:  reggae, dancehall, some hip hop

MIG:   do u play any musical instrument?
Jazio:  I'm currently learing how to play guitar by lesson

MIG:   How do you cope with your career, profession and family?
Jazio:  Hard work. There is no time to be weak. If you become weak in one thing it will bring others down. Its a matter of being focused, consistency, and determination. I only sleep about 5 hours a night.

MIG:    How many albums do u have so far?
Jazio:  3. Im working on a forth one now.

MIG:   Share something with us about your albums.
Jazio:  The previous albums were hip hop (my alius was Jazio Blaq- it comes up in the search engine). But as i began to grow in music, I felt more passion going to my roots and found it more passionate doing my ballads. With this next album, it is called "Roots" because I am showing that though I spent 90% of my life in the U.S. I will never forget where i came from.

MIG:   Which one is your favourite?
Jazio:  Hmmm...I dont have a favorite since I keep growing. I usually tend to have a favorite when I complete a song until I play it out and make a new one. HAhahaha

MIG:   How did you bring up your first album? ( producers and other people who helped)
Jazio:  I produced everything. From writing, to making the beats, and recording (that was hard running from booth to board, but i did it). All my albums have been that way, so when you hear my music, it is 100% Brako!

MIG:   How successful were you with your albums?
Jazio:  Im satisfied with the success considering that I do all the album art work, promotions and marketing. It pays the bills but hopefully, I can build a professional team in the near future to help me get out more.

MIG:   What are some of the difficult times you went through to bring out your albums?
Jazio:  Just going to school, working, studying and trying to put time into my music at the same time.

MIG:   What would you say is your most satisfactory achievement?
Jazio:  I won the 2003 Midwest Entertainment Award (Omaha, NE) for best unsigned artist. It was the first annual award show and Im proud to say that I was the first AFRICAN to win in the hip hop category.
